I’m sure that you might have seen thermal ink in action, whereby the ink will change its color, based on the temperature. Nevertheless, it seems that a group of ingenious MIT engineers have incorporated the color changing components into roof tiles, whereby the roof tiles will change color according to the outside temperature.

When the weather is cold, the roof tiles will turn into jet black, so that it can absorb more heat into your home. And when it is hot, the tiles will turn to white color, so that it can reflect the heat back out into the open.
