It seems that Epson has begun mass-producing the world’s smallest XGA panel which is constructed from high temperature polysilicon TFT (HTPS-TFT). The chip is in fact approximately 23 percent smaller than the previous versions and it only measures 0.55 inch in size. Best of all, it has XGA display and (1024 x 768) resolution.
Personally, I don’t see how these kinds of miniature display units can have any real applications in appliances. However, it seems though that these types of displays are used for 3LCD data projectors.
With such a high tech device, particularly one which can withstand high temperatures, expect to pay a premium for the world’s smallest XGA panel.
