In order to counter Intel’s 45nm quad core processor, AMD has released their own version of processors, codename Shanghai. The latest chip would come with 6MB of L3 cache which offers 35 percent better performance than its predecessors while consuming 35 percent lesser power. On the other hand, it would come with 2 variants in clock speed – 2.3 GHz and 2.7 GHz.
Desktop processors which bear the codename ‘Dragon’ would become available in Q1 next year.
