Personally, I don’t really think that you’ll need more than 3 years to draft papers in setting proper standards for the WiFi technology, but it seems that the Wi-Fi Alliance indeed took such a lengthy time to draft the standards.
Personally, I feel that the WiFi technology is already working fine in the market, and you don’t need some experts from the IEEE to draft some lengthy papers in order to standardize the technology.
According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, they will be publishing the final standards this mid-October – which I think nobody would ever want to read it.
